I’m Jolien from Studio Jolien, specialised in maternity photography based in Urk. For me a maternity shoot is about more than pretty pictures: it’s about capturing a feeling, a fleeting period of life. My style is warm, light-sensitive and relaxed — I look for natural moments and subtle emotion so you can truly feel that moment again when you look back at the images. As a mother I understand how special and how vulnerable this time can feel. I bring that understanding into my approach: I work calmly and respectfully, putting you at ease and advising on clothing and atmosphere. Many expectant parents appreciate my styling and location advice — whether you prefer the soft light of the Golden Hour outdoors or an intimate session at home. If you don’t have a suitable dress, my Client Closet offers long, elegant gowns selected especially for maternity photography. During the session I keep things relaxed: I give gentle directions so you move naturally and can keep holding each other as you normally would. I pay attention to composition, soft lighting and the little details — the tiny kicking feet, hands on the bump, the look between partners — that together tell your story. The result is timeless, loving maternity images that never feel forced. I work from Urk but photograph individuals and couples throughout the Netherlands. My process is personal: we discuss your wishes and locations beforehand, I create a calm atmosphere on the day, and after the shoot you receive the retouched images in an online gallery. My aim is that you’re not only happy with the photos, but that each time you view them you can relive this special chapter.
