I’m Susanne van Horick of Photography By Suus, and maternity photography is one of my specialties. Since 2017 I have focused on capturing life’s special moments, and a pregnancy deserves photos that feel pure, soft and natural. Based in Den Helder, I offer a personal, calm approach so you feel comfortable and can show your radiant self. My style is natural, light and pure. For a pregnancy shoot I choose the location together with you: this can be a beautiful outdoor spot — think dunes, beach or the golden hour in the evening — but I also work with natural styling and a client closet full of (maternity) dresses. I usually recommend scheduling the shoot around week 33 or 34; at that stage the bump shows beautifully and we can work relaxedly on intimate, loving maternity and belly photography. How I work: first we have a short contact to discuss your wishes. I advise on clothing and colour palettes so the overall look stays calm and timeless. During the shoot I create a relaxed atmosphere — no stiff poses, just gentle direction and small moments that truly feel authentic. You can choose images of mum alone, photos with your partner, or shots including brothers and sisters. The focus is on the bond and the happiness you share together. After the shoot I carefully edit the selected images to preserve the natural, light aesthetic. My aim is that you look back on these photos with warmth: pure, spontaneous moments from your pregnancy captured truthfully.
